Stuff has been getting a lot of bad press these days. In fact, there’s an entire website (StoryOfStuff.com) dedicated to promoting anti-stuff propaganda. The reduction in stuff is causing a reduction in the insurance for stuff. So, insurance companies are fighting back.
Allstate Insurance recently launched a pro-stuff campaign in response to those pushing the anti-stuff agenda. Videos from the campaign below. These are being shared on the Allstate Facebook Page. The pro-stuff campaign acknowledges that for many people, stuff is a record, like pictures, that connects us to past people, places, and events. Stuff is a timeline that tells our life story.
Yet, rather than collect physical things, why not take pictures of the stuff we have and create a virtual scrapbook/photo album inside our computer?
The Allstate Digital Locker mobile app for the iPhone lets you do just that. The app is intended as an inventory tool for insurance purposes, yet it also could serve to motivate people to just take pictures of their memories, and realize since our stuff could be lost in a fire or tornado, why not cherish their memories and let go now. Watch the videos below and be inspired to let go of what you can by making a photo journal of your stuff and then donating those things or selling them.
