Costco Wholesale Warehouse opened a new store in Coralville, Iowa. An announcement of this was made on the main Costco website. During the first days, the store was quickly filled with eager customers. The Facebook location page is starting to have visitors.

Membership
Costco is a members only store. Membership is $55 per year or $110 for a premium “Executive” membership. Business membership permits six people to share the same membership.
Products
Costco sells a wide variety of high quality products and discount prices including groceries with many organic food options, large screen televisions, computers, cameras, and a wide array of home accessories. Pictured below is a portable solar panel system from ZampSolar.com that’s available in the local Costco store. Other solar products are available online.
Merchandising
Similar to Lowe’s or Menards, Costco places products on wooden shipping pallets and unfinished metal shelving. This significantly reduces the cost associated with merchandising. The floors are polished cement without any decoration.
Parking
Something unique about Costco in Coralville is that parking is available inside, making it very convenient when it’s raining or snowing. The annual cost of snow removal in Iowa is significant.
