The update for “Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 4” can’t be installed.

Then, after clicking “OK” in the error box:

An error occurred during installation.

Then, after clicking “OK” again:

Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 4: Error.

Problem solution. The solution is to run the Disk Utility > Repair Disk Permissions. Then the Java update should install fine using Software Update. If that doesn’t work, try manually downloading the Java Update 4 from the Apple Support site. [ Here or Here ]
