Apple Computers Featured in Advertising as Product Placement

Apple computers and other products seem to be used in advertising a greater percentage of the time than than their actual market share would suggest. This is likely due to the fact that advertising and graphic design professionals favor Apple and do this as a favor.

Some companies pay for their products to be used in movies (for example). That practice is referred to as product placement. It’s like putting an advertisement inside of a movie or television show. It’s unusual to have product placement inside of an advertisement that’s already selling something else, like the US Bank advertisement above.

What’s interesting about Apple products being featured in television shows and movies is that much of the time this is done without compensation.

Almost as if it’s an inside joke, those who are in a position to choose what technology will be featured all choose to select Apple. So, predominantly what you see are Apple computers and products.

This page will feature a gallery of samples and examples showing this phenomenon in advertising.
