Problem. By default, when replying to an email message, the Mozilla Thunderbird email client will include the original e-mail in your reply message. The default setting for this is to have your reply below the text of the previous message. Most people don’t want to re-read their entire message before getting to your reply.
Solution. Follow these steps to correct the problem:
- Go to the Tools menu and select Account Settings
- Under the primary account name there will be several options such as Server Settings, Copies & Folders, Composition & Addressing, etc. Click on Composition and Addressing.
- Under Composition, make sure there is a check mark next to “Automatically quote the original message when replying.” and then below that, change the setting from “start my reply below the quote” to “start my reply above the quote.” Click the OK button when done.
