ResourcesForLife.com – News 201701 | 29 January 2017 | Sunday
Dear Friend,
I hope you’re doing well. Welcome to the January newsletter. This month I have some great news about site redesign work that should make the website easier to navigate and more attractive. I’ve also spent over 100 hours since the December 2016 newsletter creating 46 posts and articles, some quite lengthy, on a variety of topics. Those are highlighted below.
Personal Update
My Personal Update for January is now available. If we’re not already connected on Facebook, I invite you to Like my page and also visit my AboutGregJohnson.com website.
About Resources for Life
The Resources for Life website has been designed and refined for the primary purpose of serving activists. At the top of the About page are these words:
“Tomorrow will be better than yesterday because of our choices and actions today.”
That’s a simple purpose statement I created about 16 years ago to define what’s at the heart of the Resources for Life website. I wanted to convey the purpose and meaning of “activism” in a single sentence, and that’s what I came up with.
Activist Resource Group
On the Resources for Life About page are these words:
“Activists are to society as white blood cells and antioxidants are to the body. They help improve the environment, our educational systems, the political process, wellness promotion, social services, and bring healing to the world. By empowering activists, we boost the immune system of the planet. Although this website is primarily for the purpose of serving to empower activists, anyone can benefit from the information and principles offered.” (source)
At the hub of Resources for Life is the Activist Resource Group which I remodeled last year to be more accessible and helpful. Time permitting, in the months ahead, I’d like to remodel some other areas of the site.
Technology Services
This past week, I redesigned the Technology Services pages on the Resources for Life website. These sub pages are a bit more colorful and streamlined. I’ll continue to maintain the IowaCityTechnologyServices.com website because it’s one more way for people seeking tech support to find me, as well as the IowaCityComputerSupport.com website.
Articles
As mentioned above, since the December 2016 newsletter, I’ve created 46 posts and articles. These were part of a major push to broaden the content of the site for reference in the coming year. You can view all articles on the site, or visit specific collections on topics such as activism or technology.
Here are a few featured posts that I think have broad appeal:
- Another Pipeline Leak. This Time in Iowa. The cause of the leak might surprise you. (26 Jan 2017)
- Jason Momoa – “Canvas of My Life” (19 Jan 2017)
- My Writing Method for Online Content (27 Jan 2017)
- Theresa May Speech on 26 Jan 2017 at the Republican Party ‘Congress of Tomorrow’ Conference in Philadelphia – Video and Transcript (28 Jan 2017)
Heart Songs
This month’s Heart Songs selection is “Future Looks Good” by OneRepublic. Note: There may be advertising preceding the videos that’s outside my control — it’s determined by YouTube and the user who uploaded the videos. Click the small red ‘x’ at the top right of any ads to close them.
Thanks. I want to thank the global team of volunteers, contributors, and workers “behind the scenes” who help make all this possible. I’m very grateful to the many people who continue to uphold and advance the mission of Resources for Life. Thanks again for your support. Please let me know if there is any way that Resources for Life can serve you better.
Regards,
Greg
