Turn off Ken Burns Effect in iMovie ’08

Apple

Summary. The Ken Burns Effect is an annoying feature that is enabled by default. It is essentially an opt-out feature rather than opt-in. Follow the steps below to disable it.

  1. Import a Photo. Import a photo into the Project area of iMovie. This is the area to the right of Project Library listing.
  2. Project Properties. Right click on the imported picture and select Project Properties.
  3. Photo Placement. Next to Initial Photo Placement change the setting from Ken Burns to Fit in Frame. Then click on the OK button. Choosing the Fit in Frame option will ensure that the entire photo shows up in the video. Some cropping may be required to ensure that the photo is visible in the television safe area.
