Just a few days ago, Bevel posted this excellent instructional video on how to best use the Bevel double-edge safety razor and shaving system. The tips and guidelines would be useful for any shaving system, although the Bevel is considered by some to be the best on the market today. If you’ve not yet given Bevel a try, do yourself a favor and check it out. They offer a money-back guarantee. [More…]
Production Commentary
From the video, there are a few observations that video producers will take note of.
- Lighting. The lighting is defused and very well distributed. By having slightly more light ‘stage left’ of the demonstrators, a more natural feel is created. The highly reflective surface of the razor, product caps, and other items in the video have just the right amount of light so as not to create too much light which would wash out or oversaturate the video. This is difficult to achieve and could require additional video lighting equipment.
- Diversity. The video offers a good mix of people representative of the real world we live in.
- Motion. Some of the video appears to have been recorded with a fixed tripod, as one might expect in a product video like this. Brief accent segments have a handheld feel to them. However, at the introduction to the video, it seems that a video camera slider dolly was used. This mix of motion helps produce a more dynamic lifelike video.
- Pace. The flow and pace of the instructions offered are fast enough to keep the viewer’s attention, but not so fast that too much information is delivered than can be absorbed. The visual demonstrations and examples are excellent.
