>>> RENTED <<<

Thank You! This unit has been rented. We want to thank the many people who expressed an interest in subleasing our apartment. Even though the apartment is now rented, we’re leaving this post online for future reference.

Beautiful Apartment. After years of searching, we found one of the nicest downtown apartments available in Iowa City. Now, in our second year at the apartment, we’re moving and must say goodbye to our beautiful home. We’re looking for someone responsible to sublet our apartment. We hope that’s you!

Contact Us. You can contact us by calling 319-621-4911 or by writing to housing@resourcesforlife.com

Availability. The apartment is scheduled to be available for moving in anytime during July 2011 or by the first of August 2011. If earlier occupancy is desired, arrangements might be possible for the right renter.

Excellent Value. The monthly rent for this apartment will be $945 which includes heat, water, garbage service, cable television, Internet, coin laundry access, facility cleaning, double occupancy allowance, and other services. The only additional cost you pay is the electric bill. Similar apartments in the downtown Iowa City area can cost $1200 to $1500 per month.

Fresh Air. All windows in the apartment, including the bathroom, can be opened to allow fresh air to flow through. From springtime through fall, on cool days, it’s nice to open the windows and enjoy the fresh air.

Great Location. The apartment is located at 332 East Washington Street on the corner of Gilbert and Washington as shown above. This means you’re a within two or three blocks from numerous coffee shops, banks, grocery stores, and the downtown campus area. It’s in the heart of the city.

Huge Windows. This second floor apartment is on the south end of the building with four large windows facing east and three facing south. These are wider and taller than a typical home or apartment. The large window sills are ideal for plants, or you can keep them clear to let the maximum amount of daylight in. In the photo above taken from the outside, you can see our three south facing windows and four east facing windows. With the adjustable blinds in every window, you can have as much or as little light as you like.

Kitchen Amenities. The kitchen includes relatively new appliances. The microwave oven is built-in over the stove. There is a double basin sink in the kitchen with a garbage disposal on the left. The refrigerator is full-size and has automatic frost removal.

Laundry On-Site. The on-site laundry facilities are convenient and less expensive than commercial laundry businesses.

Looking northwest from the parking ramp over Chauncey Swan Park you can see our apartment.

Nice View. While the view isn’t as spectacular as a penthouse apartment, it is nice to be on a second floor with a full corner view looking east, south, and southwest over the Gilbert Street and Washington Street area of downtown. The southeast view overlooks Chauncey Swan Park where the farmers market live music events are usually held.

Secure Building. The apartment is keyed to be only accessible to tenants.

Spacious Floor Plan. Although the apartment is considered a one bedroom, the floor plan makes it feel spacious because the kitchen and main living area are open, and all rooms have very high ceilings. The bathroom is quite large and also has a huge window. Click here to download the floor plan as a PDF file. Note that the compass directions on the floor plan are incorrect. The four windows in the living room face east.

Storage. The apartment features ample storage including a coat closet inside the entryway, large storage space under the kitchen island, plenty of cabinets in the kitchen, as well as a wide closet in the bedroom.

Sunrise View. Imagine waking up in the morning and looking east through huge second-floor windows to see a colorful sunrise like the one pictured here (actual photo taken out our east facing windows). On a clear night, you can see the night sky from your bed, or while resting on a couch.

Wood Floors. In the fall of 2009 we had the carpeted flooring completely replaced with beautiful and easy to keep clean wood laminate flooring in the entire apartment.

Rent Calculation. The monthly rent of $945 includes base rent, utilities (internet, heat, water, basic cable television, snow removal, trash removal), wood flooring upgraded, and a double occupancy allowance.
