“New Amsterdam” – New NBC Television Series Addresses Healthcare Crisis

On 13 May 2018, NBC released the trailer for the new television series New Amsterdam scheduled to air Tuesday nights starting Fall 2018.

Synopsis

Inspired by Bellevue, the oldest public hospital in America, this unique medical drama follows the brilliant and charming Dr. Max Goodwin, the institution’s newest medical director, who sets out to tear up the bureaucracy and provide exceptional care. How can he help? Well, the doctors and staff have heard this before. Not taking “no” for an answer, Dr. Goodwin must disrupt the status quo and prove he will stop at nothing to breathe new life into this understaffed, underfunded and underappreciated hospital – the only one in the world capable of treating Ebola patients, prisoners from Rikers and the president of the United States under one roof – and return it to the glory that put it on the map.

  1. Love the show- To Ryan Eggold,
DEAR RYAN- I am hooked. Your story of the street woman who brought her very ill homeless brother in for life saving treatment was priceless. You have a true Reality Show. This week with the Rabbi was awesome. You convinced him to take a risk by having surgery and the Rabbi in turn convinced you to take a risk in forgoing chemo for another treatment. I have a terrible fear of heights. Yesterday, Thanksgiving, in Cinci. Ohio. my husband wanted so much to have me ride the 150′ high Ferris Wheel with him, down at the Ohio River. My feet went numb and I had to hold on to the bar for a long time. But, YOU, Ryan, (Dr.) convinced me to ‘Take the Risk.’ I am so glad I did. My husband is a 3 time cancer survivor and life is precious. Thanks. Keep going strong. Can’t wait for next week’s episode.
